Ingredients
- 4 slices bread
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cut the 4 slices of bread into 1 inch cubes. Leave them out to dry for 10 minutes if they are fresh.

Pour the 0.5 cup vegetable oil into a deep skillet and heat over medium-high until a bread cube sizzles immediately when dropped in, about 2 minutes.

Add half the bread cubes in a single layer. Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side, turning occasionally.

Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining bread cubes.

While still warm, toss the fried bread with the 0.5 teaspoon salt and 0.25 teaspoon black pepper. Serve immediately.
