Ingredients

  • ¾ lb ground beef
  • 1.5 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup tortilla chips (or fried tortilla strips)
  • 1 whole jalapeño, sliced
  • 1 whole lime
  • ¼ cup crema or sour cream

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Once shimmering, add ground beef and break apart with a spoon.

  2. 2

Cook beef, stirring occasionally, until no pink remains and edges are lightly browned, 5–6 minutes.

  3. 3

Add chili powder and cumin. Stir until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. 4

Divide chopped romaine between two bowls. Top each with half the warm seasoned beef.

  5. 5

Sprinkle cheese and tortilla chips over the beef. Scatter jalapeño slices on top.

  6. 6

Whisk crema with lime juice and a pinch of salt. Drizzle over each salad and serve immediately.
