Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- ½ medium yellow onion
- ¼ cup green olives, pitted
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 3 tbsp hot honey (or honey + hot sauce)
- 12 count store-bought empanada or wonton wrappers
- 2 cups neutral oil for frying
- 1 lime lime wedges, for serving

Finely dice the onion. Heat 1 tbsp neutral oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Add onion and cook until soft, ~3 minutes. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon.

Cook beef until no pink remains, ~4 minutes. Stir in olives and cilantro, then let cool slightly.

Spoon 1 tbsp filling onto the center of each wrapper. Fold into a triangle, pressing edges to seal.

Heat 2 cups oil in a heavy pot to 350°F. Working in batches, fry pastels until golden, ~90 seconds per side.
