- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 whole large eggs
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (M&Ms or similar)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt butter in a medium bowl. Whisk in cocoa powder until smooth, ~1 minute.
- 3
Stir sugar into cocoa mixture. Add eggs one at a time, whisking after each.
- 4
Fold in flour with a few gentle strokes until just combined—do not overmix.

Stir in three-quarters of the candy pieces, reserving the rest for topping.
- 6
Pour batter into prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
- 7
Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center has a few fudgy crumbs, 20–23 minutes.
- 8
Remove from oven. Scatter reserved candy pieces over the warm surface.
- 9
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then lift onto a wire rack to cool completely.
