Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) silken tofu, chilled
  • ¼ cup bonito flakes (katsuobushi)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 2 stalks scallions, sliced thin
  • ½ sheet nori strips (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Gently remove tofu from packaging and drain any liquid. Place on a small plate or shallow bowl.

  2. 2

Stir soy sauce and mirin together in a small dish until sugar dissolves, about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Pour the soy-mirin mixture over the tofu, letting it pool around the sides.

  4. 4

Top with bonito flakes — they'll dance and shiver from the warmth of the tofu.

  5. 5

Scatter sliced scallions and nori strips over the top. Serve immediately.
