Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or ciabatta
  • 1 lb Roma tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup fresh basil
  • 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 to taste salt and black pepper

Instructions

    Slice bread diagonally into 0.5-inch-thick pieces.

    Dice tomatoes into 0.5-inch pieces. Discard excess liquid.

    Mince garlic. Tear basil into small pieces.

    Arrange bread on a baking sheet. Broil 3-4 inches from heat until golden, ~2 minutes per side.

    Rub warm toast with cut garlic clove on both sides.

    Toss tomatoes with minced garlic, basil, 2 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper.

    Spoon tomato mixture onto toast. Drizzle remaining oil on top.

    Serve immediately while bread is still warm.
