Ingredients
- 8 leaves fresh mint leaves
- ½ oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz white sugar
- 2 oz white rum (light)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 2 oz club soda or soda water
- 1 wheel lime wheel
Instructions
- 1
Place mint leaves and sugar in a tall glass. Using a muddler or wooden spoon, gently press the mint against the sugar 6–8 times until fragrant and the sugar begins to dissolve; avoid crushing the leaves into small pieces, which release bitterness.
- 2
Add the fresh lime juice and rum to the glass, then stir gently for about 10 seconds to combine with the mint-sugar mixture.
- 3
Fill the glass with ice cubes, packing them firmly so the drink stays cold and balanced.
- 4
Top with club soda until the glass is nearly full, about 2 oz, and stir once or twice to marry the flavors. Garnish with a lime wheel and a sprig of fresh mint, and serve immediately with a straw.
