Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup walnuts

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 9 inch round cake pans. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package directions using the eggs, oil, and water. Divide batter evenly between pans.

  2. 2

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  3. 3

In a chilled bowl, whip the 1 cup heavy cream until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes. Chop the 0.5 cup walnuts into small pieces.

  4. 4

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half of the whipped cream over the top. Sprinkle with half of the chopped walnuts. Top with the second cake layer.

  5. 5

Spread the remaining whipped cream over the top of the cake and sprinkle with the remaining walnuts. Slice and serve.
