Ingredients
- 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled and whole
- 2 cups marshmallows
- 12 oz Italian breadsticks or biscotti, broken into 3-inch pieces
Instructions
- 1
Pour the heavy cream into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat, stirring often, until you see wisps of steam rising from the surface and small bubbles forming around the edge, about 3 minutes.
- 2
Add the chopped chocolate and butter to the hot cream and remove the pan from heat immediately.
- 3
Let the chocolate and butter sit in the cream for 1 minute without stirring so they soften.
- 4
Stir gently with a rubber spatula, drawing the chocolate from the bottom and sides into the center, until the mixture is smooth and glossy with no visible streaks of chocolate.
- 5
Stir in the vanilla extract and salt until fully combined and the chocolate smells fragrant.
- 6
Pour the warm chocolate into a fondue pot or a small heatproof bowl placed over a candle or small heat source to keep it warm and fluid.
- 7
Arrange the strawberries, marshmallows, and breadsticks on a large platter around the chocolate, leaving space so guests can easily dip.
- 8
Give each guest a wooden skewer or fondue fork and invite them to spear an item, dip it into the chocolate, and eat it.
