Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats (old-fashioned oats)
  • 1.75 cups milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based)
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup or honey
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Set the oven to 350°F and wait for the indicator light to turn off or for a beep, about 10 minutes, which means the oven has finished heating.

  2. 2

Pour 2 cups rolled oats, 1.75 cups milk, 0.33 cup maple syrup, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon baking powder into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

  3. 3

Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until the oats, spices, and liquid are evenly combined with no dry streaks visible, about 30 seconds.

  4. 4

Scatter 0.75 cup chocolate chips across the top of the oatmeal mixture in an even layer.

  5. 5

Slide the baking dish into the preheated 350°F oven on the middle rack and bake until the top looks set and the edges are lightly golden, about 12 minutes.

  6. 6

Remove the baking dish from the oven using oven mitts and place it on a heat-safe surface, then let it rest for 2 minutes so it becomes easier to scoop.

  7. 7

Divide the warm oatmeal evenly among four bowls using a spoon, scooping from the center outward to ensure each serving gets oatmeal and chocolate chips.
