Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 bar KitKat bar

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 0.5 cup cocoa, 1 tsp baking soda, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  3. 3

Add 1 cup water and 0.5 cup oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth, about 2 minutes.

  4. 4

Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30-35 minutes.

  5. 5

Let cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  6. 6

Once cool, top with chocolate sauce or jam if desired, and place the KitKat bar on top before serving.
