Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup whole milk, warm
  • 4 tbsp butter, divided
  • ½ cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • ½ tsp instant yeast

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix flour, warm milk, 2 tbsp butter, 1/4 cup sugar, cardamom, yeast, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until shaggy dough forms.

  2. 2

Knead dough by hand for 3 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding flour if too wet.

  3. 3

Roll dough into a 12-inch rope, then coil it tightly and flatten into a rough disk.

  4. 4

Heat remaining 2 tbsp butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium until foaming. Slide dough disk into the pan.

  5. 5

Cook 7 to 8 minutes without moving until the bottom is golden brown and edges pull away from the pan.

  6. 6

Flip carefully, cook 3 to 4 minutes on the other side until light golden. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup sugar on top.
