Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1.5 tsp ground cardamom
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 whole egg, beaten (for wash)

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix flour, sugar, cardamom, and baking powder in a bowl.

    Pour milk and melted butter into the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

    Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead briefly until smooth, about 1 minute.

    Divide dough into 3 equal ropes. Braid loosely on a parchment-lined sheet pan.

    Brush braid generously with beaten egg. Bake until golden brown, 10–12 minutes.
