Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole almonds (raw or roasted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vin santo (or sweet dessert wine)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

    Whisk together flour, sugar, and almonds in a bowl until combined.

    Beat eggs with vanilla in another bowl, then fold into dry mix until a stiff dough forms.

    Shape dough into two 12-inch logs on the sheet pan, spaced 3 inches apart.

    Bake for 20 minutes until golden and firm, then cool 5 minutes. Slice diagonally 0.75 inches thick.

    Stand slices upright on pan, bake 5 more minutes per side until edges crisp. Cool completely, then serve with vin santo for dunking.
