Ingredients

  • 1 whole unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp dark rum or bourbon (optional)

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan.

    Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, ~3 minutes.

    Whisk brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, cayenne, and salt in a bowl until smooth.

    Pour melted butter into the sugar mixture and stir until combined.

    Fold in pecans and rum (if using) until evenly distributed.

    Pour filling into crust. Spread pecans evenly across the surface.

    Bake 45–50 minutes until the filling is set at the edges but center jiggled slightly.
