Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can canned whole tomatoes (28 oz)
  • ½ tsp granulated sugar
  • 2 sprigs fresh basil or thyme (optional)
  • 1 loaf crusty bread or cornbread, for serving

Instructions

    Melt butter in a medium pot over medium heat.

    Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

    Pour in canned tomatoes with their juice and break them up with a spoon as they simmer.
