  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

    Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it turns golden brown with a nutty aroma, ~5 minutes.

    Pour browned butter into a bowl. Add brown sugar and stir until combined.

    Crack egg into the bowl and whisk until fully blended.

    Add flour, vanilla, and salt. Stir with a spatula until just combined—do not overmix.

    Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and spread evenly.
