Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (day-old) brioche or challah, cubed (about 4 cups)
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 3 whole eggs
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 375°F. Butter a 8-inch square baking dish generously.

    Whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla in a bowl until smooth.

    Layer bread cubes into the baking dish, dot with butter, then pour custard over until bread is soaked.

    Bake for 12–15 minutes until the top is golden and the center jiggles slightly when you shake the dish.

    Cool for 2 minutes. Serve warm, optionally dusted with cinnamon sugar.
