Ingredients
- 300 g ground beef
- 1 cup holy basil leaves
- 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
- 2 pieces red chilies, sliced
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cups jasmine rice, cooked
- 2 tbsp fried shallots
- 2 pieces lime wedges

Mince the garlic and slice the red chilies. Measure out the holy basil leaves and set aside. Cook jasmine rice if not already prepared.

In a small bowl, whisk together fish sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar.

Heat vegetable oil in a 12-inch wok or large skillet over high heat until shimmering.

Add minced garlic and sliced chilies, stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned.

Pour in the sauce mixture and stir well to coat the beef evenly. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the holy basil leaves and toss gently until just wilted, about 30 seconds.

Divide jasmine rice between two plates and top with the beef pad kra pao.
