Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 small head (about 1 lb) green cabbage, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks

  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp black pepper

  1. 1

Cook bacon pieces in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until crispy and brown, about 6 minutes.

Add onion and cabbage to the skillet with the bacon and fat. Stir to coat.

  3. 3

Pour in vinegar and water, then scatter black pepper on top. Cover the skillet.

  4. 4

Cook covered over medium heat, stirring every 2 minutes, until cabbage is tender but still has a bite, about 10 minutes.
