Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg

    Preheat oven to 400°F. Cream butter and sugar in a 10-inch skillet until pale, about 2 minutes.

    Beat in the egg, then fold in flour until just combined — don't overmix.

    Spread batter evenly across the skillet bottom.

    Layer sliced apples over the batter in slightly overlapping rows. Sprinkle cinnamon and a pinch of salt over top.

    Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean.
