Ingredients
- 5 medium apples (Granny Smith or tart variety), peeled & sliced thin
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar
- ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed), 1 sheet
- 1 whole egg (for egg wash)

Preheat oven to 400°F. Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, and flour in a bowl.

Melt butter in a 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat, then add apples and cook 4 minutes until edges soften slightly.

Lay thawed puff pastry over apples and tuck edges down into the skillet around the rim.

Whisk egg with 1 tbsp water, brush over pastry, then bake until golden brown, ~14 minutes.
