Ingredients
- 1.5 cups basmati rice
- ¾ lb ground lamb
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 1.5 tsp garam masala
- ½ cup fried onions (store-bought)
- 3 tbsp ghee or oil
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Rinse basmati rice under cold water until water runs clear, then drain.

Heat ghee in a large pot over medium-high. Brown ground lamb, breaking it up with a spoon, until no pink remains, ~5 minutes.

Stir in garam masala and garlic, then add yogurt and half the fried onions. Cook until fragrant, ~2 minutes.

Add 3 cups water and bring to a boil. Stir in rice, then reduce heat to low and cover.

Simmer covered until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, ~10 minutes.
