Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced canned tomatoes
- ½ cup red lentils
- 1 can (15 oz) canned chickpeas, drained
- 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1.5 tsp ras el hanout or garam masala

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high. Add diced onion, cook 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant.

Add ground beef, breaking up with a spoon. Brown 4–5 minutes until no pink remains.

Stir in ras el hanout, then tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas, and broth. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer 10–12 minutes until lentils are tender and soup thickens slightly. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

Ladle into bowls. Serve hot with crusty bread if desired.
