Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1.5 cups frozen peas and carrots
  • 2 tbsp beef stock concentrate (or 1 bouillon cube)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 cups instant mashed potatoes (dry flakes)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup whole milk or water
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown ground beef in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up with a spoon, until no pink remains, 5 minutes.

  2. 2

Stir in frozen peas and carrots, beef stock concentrate, Worcestershire sauce, and 0.5 cup water. Simmer 3 minutes.

  3. 3

While beef cooks, whisk mashed potato flakes, butter, and milk in a bowl until creamy. Fold in cheese.

  4. 4

Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef filling in the skillet, covering it completely.

  5. 5

Broil 4 inches from the heat for 3–4 minutes until the top is golden brown and the edges bubble.

  6. 6

Let rest 1 minute. Serve straight from the skillet.
