Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1.5 cups long-grain white rice
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (or ground cumin)
  • 3 whole cardamom pods (or 0.25 tsp ground cardamom)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

Instructions

    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 90 seconds.

    Add diced onion; cook, stirring, until soft and golden, about 3 minutes.

    Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until no pink remains, about 5 minutes.

    Stir in cumin and cardamom; cook until fragrant, 30 seconds.

    Pour in rice and broth; bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and liquid absorbs, 10 minutes.
