Ingredients
- 6 oz brioche or white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1
Heat oven to 375°F. Butter a small baking dish (8x8 inch). Toss bread cubes with softened butter.
- 2
Scatter buttered bread into the baking dish, pressing gently to fill gaps.
- 3
Whisk milk, eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute.
- 4
Pour custard evenly over bread. Let soak 2 minutes so bread absorbs liquid.
- 5
Bake until edges are golden and custard is set but still jiggles slightly in the center, 8–10 minutes.
- 6
Cool 2 minutes, then serve warm. The pudding will continue to set as it cools.
