Ingredients

  • 1 whole cake (8–10 oz) store-bought chocolate cake (unfrosted)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 cup (drained) canned or fresh cherries in syrup
  • 100 g dark chocolate bar
  • 2 tbsp kirsch or cherry liqueur (optional)

Instructions

    Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes.

    Slice chocolate cake into two horizontal layers using a serrated knife.

    Place bottom layer on a serving plate. Spread half the whipped cream on top.

    Scatter half the drained cherries over the cream. Add the top cake layer.

    Spread remaining cream over the top and sides. Pile remaining cherries on top.

    Using a vegetable peeler or microplane, shave dark chocolate over the cake. Serve immediately with tea.
