Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups prepared instant mashed potatoes
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown ground beef in a 10-inch oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until no pink remains, ~6 minutes.

  2. 2

Stir in tomato paste until coated, then pour in broth and add peas. Simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. 3

Spread prepared mashed potatoes evenly over the beef mixture, smoothing the top with the back of a spoon.

  4. 4

Sprinkle cheddar over potatoes. Broil on the upper rack for 3–4 minutes until golden and edges bubble.

  5. 5

Let rest 2 minutes, then serve straight from the skillet.
