One sentence (16 words)

CookSnap matches the ingredients you already have to real, hand-curated recipes — instantly, without an app download.

Short paragraph (45 words)

CookSnap is a recipe-finder app that uses computer vision to identify ingredients in your fridge or pantry and match them against a curated library of 9,000+ real, hand-verified recipes — solving the “what can I cook with what I have” problem without AI-generated meals.

Long paragraph (130 words)

CookSnap is a free recipe finder available as a web tool and a native iOS app. Users either type their ingredients into a search box on cooksnapapp.com/recipe-finder, or photograph their fridge with the iOS app and let on-device computer vision identify the contents. CookSnap then matches those ingredients against a curated library of more than 9,000 real recipes, each one hand-verified for ingredient accuracy and step completeness. Every match returns in under 200 milliseconds with a fit percentage and an honest list of any missing ingredients. Unlike generative-AI cooking apps, CookSnap does not invent recipes — it retrieves real ones. The product was founded in 2025 by solo developer Alex Vakser and is available worldwide.

Founder bio

Alex Vakser, founder of CookSnap
Alex Vakser
Founder & Developer, CookSnap

Alex Vakser is a solo founder who built CookSnap as a response to the wave of generative-AI cooking apps that invent recipes and add ingredients you never asked for. CookSnap takes the opposite approach: a curated library of real recipes, matched against the user’s actual kitchen with a fit percentage and an honest missing- ingredient list.

Quote-friendly: “Cooking is one of the few consumer tasks where ‘close enough’ means a ruined dinner. We built CookSnap around honesty about what your kitchen can produce, not creativity about what it could produce if it were better stocked.”
